Message from the President

Happy November, everyone!

As autumn truly settles in, we wanted to give a warm welcome to all new members (and a welcome back to all returning ones, too!). We are excitedly preparing the holiday season and are looking forward to celebrating together.

And what a time to be a member of ACP – we had such a busy October! With almost one event per week, it’s truly been such a joy to meet new people and see some familiar faces. We started off the month with gratitude, literally, with a delicious (sold out!) Thanksgiving meal at the Moose, followed by a brunch at La Rhodia located in the beautiful Musée Bourdelle. We also discovered some great hidden gems with a guided tour of the 13ème arrondissement, with plenty of spots to note for future visits for relatives or friends from out of town. A lot to be thankful for indeed!

At Musée du quai Branly, we had a private guided tour of the exposition First Nations – Arts and culture of the Northwest of America. It was fascinating to learn more about the culture and traditions of indigenous nations of this area of the world and to see the beautiful intricate artwork on totem poles, masks, and murals. We also appreciated the inclusion of the importance of truth and reconciliation and how to better support modern Indigenous artists. Missed out on the tour? Not to worry - the exposition runs until January 17th, 2027. We may also be planning an impromptu return to quai Branly for a second look at the exposition via a fun free event hosted by the museum… stay tuned!

Finally, what is October without a cherished Canadian tradition - Halloween! At our incredible partner restaurant La Québécoise, some talented young artists enjoyed carving frighteningly fun faces on pumpkins and playing some fun Halloween games. We ended the month in spooky and bewitching fashion and had a roaring good time at our first ever Halloween soirée. Where we were treated to a fantastic musical performance by Gabrielle Rosée (who also released her new single that night!) and, as always, a delicious poutine, tantalizing appetizers, and lots of goodies. Congratulations to all winners of the costume competition, it was tough to judge! You can find photos of these great costumes, and all our October events on our website.

This month, we are excited to plan another brunch outing on November 22nd at Beyit Jedo – spots are limited so don’t hesitate to grab your spot. Be sure to check out some great activities happening with some friends in the Canadians in Paris on our website; here – don’t miss out on an interesting talk on media visibility of French-language scientific content at the Délégation générale du Quebec on November 5th and a special concert of Inuk musician Elisapie happening on November 14th at Theatre de la Cité organised by the Maison des étudiants canadiens, with proceeds contributing to future development of the Maison!

Have a wonderful November and we hope to see you soon!
