Formed in 1998, Karkwa explores before finding his musical identity which is confirmed in 2005 with the release of his second album, Les tremblements se immobilisent. Karkwa instantly earns the esteem of critics and audiences, forging a reputation as a stage band. The year 2008 is that of the consecration while appears The volume of the wind, opus to the direction more orchestral and irresistibly hovering. In 2011, Karkwa presented Les chemins de verre, his flagship work, which won the prestigious Polaris Award for Best Album of the Year in Canada, becoming the first – and so far the only – all-francophone album to win this honour. In 2012, the band offered a live album and took a break, each member dedicating himself to personal projects.
Fourteen years of influence on the Quebec musical landscape have left their mark: a multitude of awards including a dozen Félix (Quebec equivalent of the trophies won at the Victoires de la musique) and several hundred concerts, including Canadian and Northern toursThe European Commission has also made numerous visits to Europe. The year 2023 finally marks the reunion of Karkwa, the time of an album to come at the end of the summer and a tour of only a few dates.
