On Monday, December 4, 2023, the Canadian Cultural Centre invites you to an evening of screenings with the Annecy International Animation Film Festival! Through a selection of seven animated films, this evening offers a sneak preview of the major themes that will mark the next edition of the festival, from June 9 to 15, 2024.
A global event dedicated to animation, the Annecy International Animation Film Festival brings together the biggest names in the field and celebrates the creativity and diversity of animation styles and techniques. This special programme for the Canadian Cultural Centre puts the spotlight on Portuguese animation, its rhythms and cinematography, which will be at the heart of the 2024 edition of the festival. Two films will also explore the links between dance and animation: two arts of movement, on the eve of the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics. Kidnappé by Thomas Corriveau and A Nice Day in the Country by Christopher Hinton – two recently restored Canadian shorts – will also be screened in the Annecy Classics section.
The screening is presented by Marcel Jean, Artistic Delegate of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival and Director General of the Cinémathèque québécoise. A critic, teacher and producer, he is also the author of several books on Quebec cinema and animation.
